Reverse Graffiti Project
"Natures voice if you like, written in dirt like it's written in blood...
Its a cold realisation that the world is really really dirty."
How genius! Adorning public places with illustration and convincing messages that cause no harm to property! The Reverse Graffiti Project takes culture jamming and hacktavism into a new discussion. I'm sure Naomi Klein (author NO LOGO) would have something to say... x Continue...

Snowed...
Dearests! I'm lost somewhere in a mountain of deadlines - the week off for RAFW was well worth it but I'll be quiet for another 48 hours. BUT dearests, take a gander at these two odd snaps I took on my recent travels... giggle time...

Seashells

The ever stylish Abby Foy at Balmoral beach in Sydney.
This morning we had a divine breakfast in Manly, had a lovely stroll through the Manly Farmers Markets, watched street performers teach a 50 year old man how to breakdance, drank tea and chit chatted like old women. So glorious!

Australia's Next Top Model at #RAFW

Australia's Next Top Model has arrived at RAFW - Day 1 of filming. Mygoodness you can hear the girls before you see them!!! The car's arrived / girls jumped and screamed and hugged / Sarah Murdoch (host of ANTM) called the girls up the stairs to the OPT / then the girls had to get back in the cars and re take the scene... complete with re inacting their initial screams....
To Cadbury or not...
Fair trade certified Cadbury Dairymilk Chocolate has arrived on shelves in Australia and New Zealand (in time for fair trade fortnight). Remember the massive customer backlash to the palm oil scandal? So rad that customer pressure has encouraged Cadbury to go through the fair trade certification process. I just dont know.. should I be supporting them? Now they are super ethic but they did cause the destruction of many orangatangs homes... Oh the dilema!!! Continue...

Kirrily Johnston at RAFW
LOVED Kirrily Johnston's runway show - especially the turbans and long tassles used as a trim *:-)
Entitled "Apocalypto" Kirrily Johnston's SS 10/11 range took the audience on a journey to post apocalipticxtimes "at the dawn of a New World Age" :
"Leaving behind civilization as we know it, the people of the Apocalypto inhabit an urban jungle – a space where roads are torn up by tree roots and sky scrapers are over run with creeper vines and bird life. The wilderness, once tamed into submission, now exists harmoniously with humanity in a world ancient and modern, savage and sophisticated."

Phos Phoro at RAFW
As other media kids here at RAFW can atest to I'm struggling to be inspired by many of this year's SS10/11 collections so it is with joy I present the final walk from Spencer Webber's label Phos Phoro. Pleated chiffon, diamond cutouts, backless blazers, lace frills, circular inserts... FINALLY!
Kate Sylvester at RAFW
How brilliant Kate Sylvester's SS 10/11 collection is!
I was walking down the road one day when I came across Morissey in a billowy shirt.
"How charming I said and we continued along together.
We came upon Scott Schuman photographing Alessandra Colombo. "What a pretty boy you are"I said to her, so she came too.
Keats was busking on the corner. "Oh how sooney" I said and gathered him up.
Loulou de la Falaise was walking the dog. "What a well cut suit"I exclaimed and along they came.
Proust was taking time to smell the roses. "Writer's block" he groaned. "Party" I smiled and he joined us trailing rose petals.
Prince Vinnie had is iPod tangled up in his camisole straps. "Never mind"I said, "We need some music."
And then I saw God. "Please join my party God!"I exclaimed. "OK" said Chanel and my collection was complete.

Little Joe Woman at RAFW
Sara Phillips at RAFW
One of my fave accesories from RAFW so far is the frill necklace from the Sarah Phillips collection. Pleated frills formed trims on pocket edges and sleeves. Croped suede square coats and minis contrasted with short loose gored skirts and western style cotton shirts. Pale blue, peach and golden tan dominated the collection. x Continue...

Bec & Bridge at RAFW
UHoh - smoke fail at Bec & Bridge - BUT after the first 10 or so silhouettes had passed down the runway the smoke cleared. The SS 10/11 collection entitled "Smoke Without Fire" "worked with the tension of soft fluidity and elements of utility style". Triangular jewellery featured as necklaces, straps and inserts into neck line. This show featured a lineup of 13 blonde models who walked with an erie arian grace.

Lucette at RAFW

Mechanical repetitive remixes of popular tunes were the backdrop for Lucettes individual show. Exposed gold zippers and stiff leather were prominant features of the ready to wear rock chic collection. Most interesting pieces: A leather underbust corset, triangular and square paneling in tops and waistbands and the stiff square leather capped shoulders on dresses.

Ginger and Smart at RAFW

My first show of the morning was Ginger and Smart created by Sydney-based sisters, Alexandra and Genevieve Smart. I loved the way the garments hung in voiles and cotton twills with a looseness that melted with structured coats and high waisted pants.
My fave piece a long black sleeveless dinner jacket with deep jetted pockets worn over highwaisted pants with cowl pockets.
Loose garments had an emphasised waist with thick obi belts and bow tied drawstrings.
THE MADNESS HAS BEGUN!
