You know your famous when..
With all of the photoshop drama to hit the interweb this week I couldn't help but repost this image of Kim Kardashian and her cardboard cut out. OHdear!!! Photoshop fails have become a bit of an obsession - check out PhotoshopDisasters for more giggle worthy fail moments. TopMod has been fighting its fair share of photoshop fail this week - Isaac has written a rad article here highlighting the latest drama.

NZNTM - Episode 4
I look forward to my weekly instalments of Colin-I-Love-You-Mathura-Jeffree on NZNTM and this weeks episode was by far the most amazing in the Colin department! I loved this cheeky exchange with Afreen during her makeover:
Colin: Mirror mirror on the wall, I'm the hottest Indian of them all...
Afreen: Mirror mirror on the wall, I'm the hottest Indian of them all...
Mirror: No you're not its still Colin!
And my fave quote of the night on host Sara Tetro (suffering from laryngitis but still looking amazing):
Colin: When Sara said she had laryngitis we thought it was a European designer!
Oh he is delicious!
Shock elimination this week with Afreen sent home. She stood out at the start of the competition with her elegance and grace but on looking at this weeks shoot closely her photo was clearly the weakest. Don't get out your sad face just yet -as Katherine Lowe blogged Afreen is repped by August so it's just another chapter in her modelling career.
My four fave pics from the jewellery shoot this week:

Aych hearts Nazy Naser
If you are a Facebook user please vote for this lovely girl who is passionate, determined, talented and a total joy. You can vote once per day and it just takes one click when you arrive at this page!

I was fascinated in the shapes and structures of futuristic architecture by Zaha Hadid and chose to experiment with those ideas by pushing the boundaries of the garment silhouette. I would love to win this competition to gain mentoring with a designer for a year, it is something money can’t buy, so would appreciate all the vote I can get, and remember you can vote once every 24 hours too. Thank you everyone!

The winner of the Westpac Young Fashion Designer 2010 competition is announced on September 6 - keep your fingers crossed for Nazy!

NZNTM - Episode 3 (sans nudity)
This week's photoshoot saw the girls pack their bags and journey to Rotorua where they participated in a Zorb challenge and had a tribal themed challenge in glorious thermal mud. Oh some of the girls are selling themselves short with their attitudes! Did they not get the memo that the New Zealand fashion industry likes to curl up with a glass of wine and top mod on a Friday night? Potential clients are watching!!!
Image: Getty
I originally wrote my TopMod post complete with my top 5 images from the shoot but have decided not to post them due to the age of the girls and the level of skin exposed. I appreciate the direction of the shoot but will just link to the images rather than republish. So, my top five girls from this week's episode are: Elza, Danielle, Courtenay, Amelia and Dakota (although one of her eyes is a little sleepy).

15 million raindrops
Friends,
15million men, women and children have been affected by the horrifying floods in Pakistan. Thats more than THREE times the population of New Zealand displaced and at risk of serious disease. Temporary shelter, clean drinking water, food, medical care and sanitation facilities are urgently needed. I've donated to the Oxfam Pakistan Flood Response and urge you to donate to your charity of choice to enable the deployment of urgently required resources.
Climate change critics - where are you now? Heat waves in Russia, mudslides in China and flooding in Paksitan.. It is sad, catestrophic and utterly selfish of humanity not to act NOW.
As Nelson Mandela is so famous for saying "Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation". We HAVE to be this great generation and clean up our act or there will be no more planet Earth.

The new tv dinner..
One of our lovely flat-family-friend's Becca had us over for dinner tonight (you may remember her from such blog posts as "Do not drink and fondue". Much hilarity was enjoyed.
We realised that the new TV dinner is Vegan friendly and involves youtube surfing... oh dear!

NZNTM - Episode 2

Welcome to episode 2! Last week's introduction to the competition was a teaser for the drama that has started to develop. A few snarky remarks between the models were captured in last nights show along with several tears - drama drama drama... who's it going to be?
I watched last night's episode with three boys and wish I had recorded their commentary! "Man she needs to eat... nah I don't reckon that one is pretty... oh SHE is hot!" Guest judge Anna Fitzpatrick was looking stunning (as usual) - I love Anna's pics that were shown in her introduction - SO pretty!
Like I said last week the girls who have come into this competition with no modeling experience but have experience in dance/performing arts have a huge advantage. Although Lara (the ballerina) was reminded "this is not a ballet studio". My top five from this week's photo shoot are:

Dakota

Danielle
Sara to Danielle:"I hate to break it to you but you actually are a model.."

Eva

Michaela

Afreen
(she performed best at the tree-adventures challenge but her photo let her down a little)
Elimination time is always a highlight on the show. I love the way Sara can sass AND encourage the girls on their performance... Always filled with tension. Will she love the photo? Or rip it to shreds?
Estelle was sent home this round and left with graceful words encouraging the remaining girls. She shared on this episode that she has dropped from a size 18 to a size 8 (AHmazing!) and to get to the final 13 was a huge achievement. Good luck with your next adventures!

Artist of the week - Chen Ke
This semester I am taking so many delicious classes! One of my favourites so far is a Women's Studies class looking at gender and representation. This week we have been looking at artists from Asia and discussing specific historical and cultural influences on work produced within an Asian context.
I LOVE these paintings by Chinese artist Chen Ke - read an awesome interview with her here in Aesthetica Magazine.

Vogue Italia's Water & Oil
Have you SEEN the August Vogue Italia "Water & Oil" editorial? So haunting and beautiful. Shot by Steven Meisel the issue that hits news stands today in Italy and depicts the devistating impact of the oil spill in the Mexican Gulf on the local eco system.

NZNTM - Episode 1

The fun has started! NZNTM Cycle2 debuted in glittertastic style on Friday night with 30 contestants eliminated down to 14. I'm an addict already :-) Total side note but there is something about this image of the top mod judges above that makes me feel slighly uneasy.. I cant put my finger on it... perhaps it's all the FIERCE I can handle in one image?
I'll be hanging out each Friday night at Isaaclikes rad live chat so book mark it now along with Cycle 1 contestant Victoria William's blog.
The final 14 girls are after the jump... any bets on the final 5?

Afreen + Amelia

Courtenay + Dakota

Danielle + Elza

Estelle + Eva

Holly + Jaimie

Lara + Lauren

Michaela + Nellie

NZNTM madness
Gosh is it only Wednesday?
Beyond looking forward Friday night's premiere of the second cycle of New Zealand's Next Top Model!
Best quote from the promo:
"Greatest achievement so far? Not being pregnant and/or in jail"
I love the reality TV version of the fashion world. It's a scary and intimidating industry full of drama and excitement. The fab Isaac et moi will be doing live blogs and post episode recaps again this year and I'm sure a bit of model spotting too as the season heats up. ALSO Colin Mathura Jeffree beamed into our living rooms for an hour every week = TOTAL WIN!
Catch Cycle 2 of NZNTM Friday (TV3) from 7.30pm - watch the episode here.

One dose of fairy glitter please

Oh little blogosphere how I have missed thee!
I have been a little lacking of inspiration in the last week - winter, saying good bye to a special fairy, the passe compose and a little sniffle all made for a bit of lameness.
Do you know what always brings a little smile to every face? Pretty cupcakes!
My French amie Jess made these sparkling creations *:-)
