NOM*d + Rebecca O’Brien say DO NOT DISTURB!

OHMY! Have you seen the collaboration between NOM*d and film maker Rebecca O'Brien entitled "Do Not Disturb"? This short film is intense. I recommend watching it during daylight! Super kudos to NOM*d and Rebecca O'Brien (and their teams) for taking on such a task. I love to see clothing presented in mediums far from the runway. Also, how amazing to see Margi Robertson feature as the cleaning lady in the film? Here is a bit more info about the project:

Trapped in a motel on the edge of nowhere, evil churns and thrashes in a Pandora’s Box of frozen moments. ‘Do Not Disturb’, the AW2012 collection from NOM*d, celebrates this murky, hidden world with a concise collection of oversized layers and intricate contrasts. The film, launched at No Home film festival this year, is an unnerving and dark exploration of this world.

Director Rebecca O’Brien reflects: “Margi originally came to me with the title of this year’s winter collection ‘Do Not Disturb’. My understanding is this was in response to the hard time Mother Nature has been giving the South Island of New Zealand over the last year or so. Margi described a feeling of wanting to hide away to lick their wounds and to be left alone to just get on with things … undisturbed”.

O’Brien drew on these influences, while also being mindful of the unique NOM*d aesthetic. There are nods to Lynch, namely Twin Peaks.

“The association with ‘Do Not Disturb’ and motels is obvious, but I also wanted to create a world of fear and isolation with the consent threat of some great power or evil about to be unleashed at any moment. A foreboding place where malevolence and ruin are ever present,” says O’Brien.

Disturb only if you dare.
