Introducing: Pia Boutique

A designer who caught my eye on the NZFW runway last week was Pia Naera of Pia Boutique who showed in the Miromoda Showcase. While the collection was still leaving the catwalk I was organizing an interview! I was drawn to the prints and had to find out more.

Check out our chat:

Tell me a little bit about Pia Boutique and your journey to the Miromoda Showcase at NZFW?

I launched my brand in May this year. I am so pleased with how it has escalated with only 5 months under my belt.  Miromoda is a competition that celebrates Maori fashion designers.  The winner and runner up for each category won a spot in NZFW 'Miromoda' show.  This experience was invaluable for the growth of my brand.

Current creative influences?

My current collection 'Neon Bloom' explores big bright florals, Aztec prints with hints of neon.  With also a few (non-printed plain items to go with the bright numbers)!

3 words to describe Pia Boutique?

Fun, Feminine and Exclusive!

What was it like seeing your range on the NZFW runway?

It was AMAZING, words can't even describe how it feels to see your pieces on the runway.  It's definitely a rewarding feeling - and what's even better is when people love it too! I've been getting amazing feedback which is always so encouraging.

Also, are the prints original designs? Or sourced?

Pia Boutique is all about originality & prints! I design my own exclusive 'Pia Boutique' digital prints which means each piece is very original!

And the big dream?

To have my own boutique! To also show at International Fashion weeks & get my stuff out there on a global scale!
