ello and welcome!

I am a blogger, artist, writer and social change maker. I have recently completed my Masters of Art & Design at AUT University. I dream of working in an organised minimalist space but the reality of my desk right now is that it is covered in post-it notes and glitter!

Fashion has always been one of my favourite languages and I am constantly  fascinated by the way we use this tool to both express and discuss our identity.

In September 2008 I created aychblog.com as an online community to frame my graduating collection from AUT University’s Bachelor of Design – Fashion programme. I wanted to create a digital space for the socially conscious consumer, pairing discussions about the environmental impact of what we wear with innovative design solutions. Over the last five years I have had the opportunity to interview, meet and be interviewed by some extraordinary creatives and collaborate with some awesome brands. Check out my media page for some of my favourite links.

I use gender neutral pronouns so words like “they” and “their” or just my name are good words to use when referring to me. Here are some good examples of how to use gender neutral language:

Guidelines for gender-neutral language” – Government of Canada

“How to Use Gender Inclusive Language” – Wiki How

I am the Education Director at Rainbow Youth, a peer support organisation in Aotearoa for queer and trans* young people and their friends and whānau. I am passionate about youth run and youth lead governance. Check out our two sibling sites Curious and I’M LOCAL.

I am excited about the way that digital spaces enable the sharing of ideas, stories and identities AND I’m excited that you clicked “About” to read a bit more of my story!
